What Blog Related Emails Do You Enjoy Receiving?

Seeing as it is the weekend, I wish to add a slight twist to my regular style of posting, which brings me to the question…

What Blog Related Emails Do You Enjoy Receiving?
If like me, you constantly get bombarded with tons of emails from all walks of life, out of those will be some that brings a smile, joy or satisfaction – something of a reward for your hard work.

Then again, you may have most of your notifications switched off,
but surely, there must be some you rather keep a watchful eye on.
What are they?

I have listed 3 of my top happy emails below, emails that I subconsciously look out for.

(1) Disqus [Yourblogtools]

  • (New blog post comment notification)

(2) AWeber Sign-up

  • (New Email list subscription)

(3) Affiliate Commission Report

  • (Sales made through affiliate marketing)

It’s now over to you.
What emails or subject lines are you ever happy to receive, if any?

Those that you mentioned are definitely great. I can't deny seeing “you made sale” email is probably the most exciting thing I can see on my inbox. Then again seeing that someone left a comment on my blog is one of the emails I take the immediate action on…

One of my personal favorites is getting a question from a reader sent directly to me using the contact form on my blog (I encourage my readers to do this, and it's like “free consulting” for them if they take the opportunity). I enjoy helping people and answering questions like this, not only makes that person extremely happy, but they turn into great Q&A blog posts as well.

In addition to those mentioned, I particular enjoy the ones from people who need help with something blog related, but are hesitant to ask what they perceive as a “dumb question” in the comment section. Of course there is no such thing as a dumb question, but some are timid about not knowing certain things.

Anyhow, I enjoy these quite a bit because you not only helped someone in a one on one manner, but they showed trust in asking you privately to begin with. We never want anyone to feel embarrassed or inferior, so these types of emails from readers really mean a lot to both parties.

At the moment I get very few blog related emails apart from the those connected with Disqus so I am obviously doing something wrong somewhere. But then looking at the stats and I am getting a lot of what I could be called transient visitors who aree interested in just one aspect of cloud or Web 2 technology, ie webclippers, webtops etc.

Referring back to a blog by Mike on Mike's Life it is these transients that I am going to have to tackle to get some stickiness in my blog.

That's good news Antti, I like the consulting service approach.
I don't get much in terms of direct messages via contact form, perhaps it's something I need to encourage more of in the future.

In terms of user feedback, I don't think you're doing anything wrong at all Kevin.
You're also doing a great job sticking to this niche, and you're becoming a force in this field.

There's always a sense of satisfaction when addressing such questions.
Interestingly, I tend to get the so called “dumb question” over at Twitter as a direct message.
Which may indicate I don't encourage it enough on the blog – something I need to bare in mind.
