Avoid Blog Destruction

Avoid Blog Destruction

In general, blogs live and breath on constant activity, once this element is removed – it’s pretty much game over.Avoid Blog Destruction

Blogs are very dynamic by nature and are constantly evolving – a reason why search engines love them a LOT!

Let’s look at some typical blog activities;

  • New Content (Frequent Posting)
  • Tweets from Twitter
  • Reader’s comments (General discussions and reactions)

As a result, your blog instantly becomes a breeding ground for discussions and interactions. However, the moment you cut-off food supply is the moment you hit the destruct button – A bit like flicking on the lights at a party – Party Over!

Blog-Destruct buttons

Let’s identify some key buttons:
• Irregular post frequency
• Lack of quality content (Blog that no longer offer value to readers)
• No call to action (Not instigating a conversation or readers opinion)

I am sure there are many more blog-destruct buttons – some bigger than others.
Try to avoid them.

    Nice shorter post, John.
Over selling is a turn-off. I know one super-famous blogger, who tries to squeeze the word Aweber with his affiliate link into almost every post. It becomes tiring to always be sold too.

lol, that would be very off-putting actually – especially if promoted that many times.

Great post, John. Once I started blogging more regularly my RSS readers and blog traffic grew tremendously. Consistency is definitely important. Another destruct button is lack of focus. There's nothing worse than seeing a blog trying to promote everything from net marketing products to weight loss pills. The flea market approach is typically a bad idea.

Absolutely, it can get very confusing for everyone involved – including search engines.
Frequent posting certainly brings more activity to a blog.

    Thanks for sharing this

    Hey John
You have some great information here. You are so right about infrequent blog posts. I try to keep up with regular postings as much as I can cause I know it will slow traffic down. I mean when I visit other blogs for a couple of days and I don't see anything new it kinda makes me wonder so I try to post regularly.

One of the things I dont like is when I get hit with pop ups when I visit a site or when I leave a site. Well thats just personal preference for me.

I like your theme. Its clean and neat. I used to have this theme. I changed it just recently to the theme I have now. No particular reason just needed a change.

    Anyways its good to connect.

    Stay in touch

You are right with the above and I would also like to add that not having the knowledge and expertise can trigger the destruction button. Continuous learning is important. :-)

    Hi John. Good post.
This is my first visit to your blog and I like it. Looks great!

I agree with you. If we want to get more traffic or to keep our readers we have to publish good quality content or, at least, entertaining posts (depending on the blog niche).

Good stuff John. There is a reason people claim content is king (although I don't completely agree).. Without regular quality content there is no reason to read or write a blog.
